Emergency Preparedness Policies

IN THE EVENT THAN AN EMERGENCY WOULD OCCUR, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO AND WHO TO CONTACT


Resident Safety is our priority at all times and BHRI have taken steps to prepare and mitigate any foreseeable or unforeseeable even with the following.


  • Emergency Generator onsite that handles our electrical needs
  • Emergency linen is stored onsite
  • Updated phone and data lines
  • Emergency Medical supplies & Medication, we keep a 7 day supply
  • We store and rotate Emergency Food & Water supply is kept onsite
  • Staffing is required to stay (freeze in) to assure residents quality of care


DURING THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE EVENTS:

Natural or human cause emergency:

  1. Stay calm
  2. Stay with resident
  3. Shelter in place

Fire:

  1. Stay calm
  2. Follow staff instructions

Active Shooter:

  1. RUN
  2. Hide (Behind locked door)
  3. Fight


IF BETHANY HOME NEEDS TO EVACUATE:

Bethany Home is prepared for and is drilled once a year for just an event.

We work with RI Dept. of Health and Long Term Mutual Aid Plan. RI Health, EMA, Providence Fire & Police with local LTCS and ALS and hospitals to assure residents safety.


We have three possible layover places we use. If evacuation is necessary:

  1. Medway Place, 229 Medway St.
  2. Wingate AL, 1 Butler Ave.
  3. Epoch AL, 353 Blackstone Blvd.


Bethany Home and RI LTC-MAP will then evaluate best placement during this emergency. As part of our program there will be teams contacting families as soon as the resident is safe. There will be also an effort to keep all medical records secure (HIPAA)
